Crew Opportunities – Northern Prawn Fishery out of Karumba, North Queensland.

In this region Raptis operate 11 modern 23 metre steel trawlers, with comprehensive refrigeration and electrical systems and powered by Caterpillar or Cummins marine engines.

The fishing crew comprises Skipper, Engineer, Mate, Deckhands and Cook. The Raptis fishing fleet is supported with extensive on shore administration, support and shore based engineering services.

Multiple opportunities are available at the start of every season.
Banana Prawn Fishing Season commences annually in March for a period of 8 to 10 weeks.
Tiger Prawn Fishing Season commences annually in August for a period of 16 weeks.

For Marine Engineers the requirement is to have either Marine Engine Driver – MED 1 or MED 2 qualifications with refrigeration endorsement, ARC Licence, First Aid, and commercial fishing or sea experience.

For Mate, Deckhand and Cook positions, at sea experience required.

Expressions of interest for crewing positions are passed along to Skippers who are independent contractors responsible for the operations of the vessels and selection of their own crew. The Northern Prawn Fishery is Australia’s largest and most valuable fishery. The crew receive a share of the value of the catch.

Crew Opportunities – Great Australian Bight out of Adelaide and Port Lincoln, South Australia.

In this region Raptis operate 3 modern 27 metre steel trawlers, with comprehensive refrigeration and electrical systems and powered by Caterpillar or GE marine engines.

The fishing crew comprises Skipper, Engineer, Mate, Cook and Deckhands. These vessels are supported with on shore administration and Engineering Services.

Multiple opportunities are regularly available. Fishing in this area is year round.

For Marine Engineers the requirement is to have either Marine Engine Driver – MED 1 or MED 2 qualifications with refrigeration endorsement, First Aid, and commercial fishing or sea experience.

For Deckhand and Cook positions, at sea experience required.

The GAB Fishery supply the busy markets in Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne, and the crew receive a value of the catch. Expressions of interest for crewing positions are passed along to Skippers who are independent contractors and select their own crew.
